Stanley Kubrick’s ‘The Shining’ remains one of the most analysed films in movie history.
Film-makers Jay Weidner and Ryder Lee have produced a mind-blowing new documentary presenting what they believe to be the real messages that Kubrick was delivering, in cryptic, coded form, below the surface narrative. ‘A Clockwork Shining’ is now available to view on Amazon Prime, thus taking many esoteric and occult ideas to a mainstream audience.
I was gratified to have been interviewed in the documentary alongside Cathy O’Brien, Joe Atwill and Walter Bosley. Here, I chat with Jay and Ryder about the unique take they believe they have uncovered on this enigmatic film.

MARK DEVLIN ALONGSIDE LLOYD/ SIR SAMBO SOUND AT THE BLACKBIRD, OXFORD, 24/5/15
I finally got my hands on the audio from another great Community Jam session in Blackbird Leys, Oxford, where I guested alongside Lloyd & Elvis of Sir Sambo Sound. I dropped a bunch of soul/ funk/ hip-hop revivals, big people-style, before Lloyd stepped back to finish off with the reggae selection – check out some pure jokes, plus about eight “last tunes.” Great people, great vibes, great sounds.
CARNIVAL FEVER MIX: DOWNLOAD AND CATCH A VIBE
It’s Notting Hill Carnival weekend in London, and for everyone catching the fever all over again, here’s a revival mix to put you right in the zone where you need to be.
We start off in reggae territory, before moving into some speaker-mashing jungle basslines, then moving on to some feel-good soca party vibes that sound even better with a Red Stripe in one hand and a corn cob in the other. Finally, slowing things down is a steaming Lover’s Rock sequence. If this was a blues party there’d be palms banging on the wall and a good bit of whinin’ an’ grinding going on. Check out the two sublime Judy Boucher tracks at the end.
Real music for people who feel music. Straight talk. Download here and enjoy.
