GOOD VIBRATIONS PODCAST, VOL 143: NEIL SANDERS – MANSON REVISITED, 50 YEARS ON

As the 50th anniversary of one of the most notorious events in modern culture approaches, Neil Sanders re-guests on the show to re-examine the Tate/ LaBianca murders, reportedly commissioned by notorious cult leader Charles Manson.

Neil draws on content from his massively comprehensive book ‘Now Is The Only Thing That’s Real’ to question both the official narrative on the events of 8th and 9th August 1969, as well as aspects of the conventional conspiracy theories attached. In many ways, the Manson events spelled the death knell of the Hippie dream and 60s idealism, and we ask whether this was circumstantial, or all part of a plan.

Along the way the conversation encompasses the CIA. MK-Ultra, the Mafia, Scientology, the Process Church, the Church of Satan, the Beach Boys, Roman Polanski, Yul Brynner, Cary Grant, Steve McQueen, Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Dennis Hopper and many others.

’65 TO ’69 REVISITED

I figured this was well worth a re-share as we’re now on the 50th anniversary of the latter period that it conveys. The death of Brian Jones, the (fake) Apollo moon landings, the Manson murders, Woodstock, the release of Easy Rider and the Rolling Stones at Altamont all occurred in the latter half of 1969, and closed off one of the most curious, unsettling and deeply fascinating four-year periods in modern culture. Here’s a timely re-share of the two-part audio soundtrack to those times that I put together a couple of years ago.

If you enjoy this, please click the Follow button on my Spreaker page to be kept updated with new speech and music-based audio as I create it.

THE TRUTH TRIP SOUNDCLASH, VOLUME 1: CHARLIE FREAK

In the first of a new, semi-regular series, Mark Devlin is joined by guest Charlie Freak to explore the powerful impact of truth music – that which happens when artists are left to express themselves freely and put great wisdom into the lyrics of a song.

Charlie goes back to back with Mark in a reggae soundclash style, as each of them select eight tracks from decades that truly resonate, and analyse the lyrical content and sentiments of each song. If music like this were played on the TV and radio, all over the world, 24/7, the course of human consciousness could be radically altered within a generation; it says so much that it’s not!

(This is real talk throughout, so be advised that the odd F-bomb gets dropped as we express ourselves openly and naturally.)

Charlie Freak’s 150 Most Important Rock Albums book series, which includes more analyses of this nature, can be accessed here:

The two volumes of Mark Devlin’s ‘Musical Truth’ books are available here:

Many message music songs of the kind discussed in this chat are available in the ongoing Sound of Freedom conscious music podcast, the full archives to which can be accessed here:
