Remember the days when people actually used to go to clubs to listen to what the DJ was spinning, without considering it their life’s mission to instruct them in what to play? Remember when punters used to actually trust the DJ, and give them the benefit of the doubt in assuming they do actually know what they’re doing?
Rare as they are, these events do still exist, and one of them happened recently during a double bill link-up between Mark Devlin and the Norwegian hip hop key player Teddy Touch – the fantastic Soul City Friday nighter at Café Opera in Bergen.
It was heavy hip hop and reggae all the way without a pop joint in sight. Here’s a chance to listen back to the soundtrack to a fantastic night.
